Disc separator can complete two operations: liquid-solid separation (low concentration slurry separation), said clarifying operation; liquid-liquid (or liquid-liquid-solid) separation (emulsion separation), said separating operation. Disc separator with its compact, small footprint, high production capacity and other characteristics, is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, light industry, food, biological engineering, and transportation.
the disc stack separator separates solids and one or two liquid phases from each other in one
single continuous process, using extremely high centrifugal forces. When the denser solids are
subjected to such forces, they are forced outwards against the rotating bowl wall, while the less
dense liquid phases form concentric inner layers. The area where these two different liquid phases
meet is called the interface position. This can be easily varied in order to ensure that the
separation takes place with maximum efficiency. Inserting special plates (the "disc stack")
provides additional surface settling area, which contributes to speeding up the separation process
dramatically. It is the particular configuration, shape and design of these plates that make it
possible for a disc stack centrifuge to undertake the continuous separation of a wide range of
different solids from either one or two liquids. The concentrated solids phase formed by the
particles can be removed continuously, intermittently or manually, depending on centrifuge type
and the amount of solids involved in the specific application.

The indissoluble liquids and solids with different densities will be separated while they are rotated at a high speed in the bowl, where the particles with heavier density move to the inside wall of bowl body, the lighter liquid toward the center of the bowl. Because the centrifugal force generated in the centrifuge fields in much larger than the gravity force, it takes only very short time for the centrifuge separation to achieve the same separation efficiency in the gravity fields. Especially when the gravity separation cannot be available, the best method is used with centrifuge separation.
There is a stack of discs installed in the bowl, which divide the bowl space into many conical cavities. That can shorten the sedimentation distance and improve the separation efficiency.
The moving trace of the limit particle "C" occurs between the discs (conical cavity).
Any limit particle between A and B can be separated if it reaches the inner surface of discs
